We suggest wearing clothing items you are comfortable in completing exercises and stretches. Typically, our patients wear active-wear like shorts, t-shirts, leggings or sweat pants.
  • Highly-educated, licensed health care professionals who can help patients reduce pain and improve or restore mobility. Physical Therapists can teach patients how to prevent and develop a plan, using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. All Physical Therapists are required to receive a degree from an accredited physical therapist program before taking the national licensure exam that allows them to practice. Here at Arlington Physical Therapy our therapists have more than 50 years of experience in total.
Physical Therapists Assistants obtain their education through a 2-year accredited associate degree program. Their license allows them to do all of the same treatments done by a Physical Therapist except for an initial evaluation, progress report and discharges. Currently, we have two excellent Physical Therapist Assistants at APT, Josh Anderson and T.J Kaminski.

There are two ways to receive Physical Therapy. The first option is simply asking your doctor for a referral. Not sure if you can get a referral from your doctor?
  • You can visit your primary physician or any other physician and request a referral to Arlington Physical Therapy! It’s that easy!
The second option is "Direct Access." .
  • Direct Access is a way for patients to come to physical therapy even when they don't have a referral. In September 2019, the State of Texas passed a law that allows two weeks of physical therapy without a referral! Once the two week period is over, you will need to get a referral from your doctor.
It depends...it depends on YOU.   In general, it takes 4-8 weeks to go through the first 2 phases of healing (no pain, all movement, and strength back to normal).   It may take another 1-4 months to get back to all activities you want to do...depending on how active you are. This is the 3rd phase of healing.
Most people we see in the clinic see improvements in 1-2 weeks.  If you go longer than 2 weeks without feeling better or moving better...you may be wrong about the cause of your back pain regardless of what your x-ray or MRI shows.
Most people who complete the 3 Phases of healing (meaning they no longer have pain, motion, and strength are back to normal, and they’re back to doing what they normally do without pain)...they have a minimal chance the pain will return. The stronger a person is, the less likely symptoms will return.
You might be asking- how can I pay my bill? If you are still a patient with us, you can simply pay your bill when you come in for your appointment! If you are no longer a patient with us and you have a balance on your account, we will notify you by emailing you a notification and an invoice. This makes it easy to pay online instantly. So check your email and your spam folder! If you do not have an email you can mail a check or come into the clinic during business hours.
If you wish to avoid going through insurance or do not have insurance, we offer a self-pay program to cover Physical Therapy Treatments (you will still need a referral).

In most cases, our patients discharge after completing 12 sessions   Steps to a faster recovery: √ Make sure you are completing your stretches and exercises at home √ Consistently modify activities that could flare up symptoms √ Attend all PT sessions - see it through to the end, don't give up even though you are starting to feel better!  
Our model at APT focuses on highly skilled, hands-on physical therapists, a table, and some basic exercise equipment (a simple ball, exercise bands, body-weight) so you can do your exercises at home or on the road if traveling.  
Most people we work with in the clinic for back pain do the exercises at least once per day…every day One of the best programs you can move on to once you complete the 3 Phases of Healing for your back pain is a consistent walking program. People who walk every day have less risk of reinjuring their back and having back pain.
The best thing to do for your back pain, if you are worried about it coming back again in the future, is to complete all 3 phases of healing. 1. Phase One is where you focus on getting rid of the pain, numbness, and tingling. 2. Phase Two is where you focus on getting normal movement back and full strength. 3. Phase Three is where you go back to previous activities you want to do.
