Dr. Guillermo, PT, DPT, MTC
Dr. Guillermo, PT, DPT, MTC is registered to perform EMG/NCS Nerve Testing. He has spent countless hours being mentored by the founders of Hands on Diagnostics (HODS), a team of highly skilled doctors providing the most innovative testing technologies available to physical therapists.

What is EMG/NCS Testing?
An Electromyogram (EMG):
Measures the electrical activity of muscles at rest and during contraction. Nerves control the muscles in the body by electrical signals (impulses), and these impulses cause the muscles to react in specific ways, rather, when a disorder is present, muscles react in abnormal ways. During an Electromyography study, a very small pin is inserted in the muscle that helps us evaluate the condition of your muscles.
Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS):
NCS’s are used to measure the health of your nerves. Mild electrical stimulation is administered to the skin directly overlying the nerve. The response is measured by the second set of electrodes applied to the surface of the skin. This impulse produces a visual signal on a computer monitor, when analyzed it can provide information about the condition of the nerve.
What conditions does the EMG address?
- Muscle Disorders
- Nerve Damage
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Muscular Dystrophy
- Myasthenia Gravis
- Peripheral Neuropathy
- Radiculopathy (pinched nerve)
- Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist Pain
- Hip, Knee, Foot Pain
Ability to assess the severity of nerve damage with showing symptoms of:
- Back Pain radiating to the legs
- Neck Pain radiating to the arms
- Muscle Weakness
- Weakness in arms
- Weakness in hands
- Weakness in legs
- Muscle Twitching
- Muscle Cramping or Pain
